David Amadio received his MFA in Fiction from Bowling Green State University in 2001. Since 2004, he has taught Creative Writing and Composition at Lincoln University, America’s oldest degree-granting HBCU. His work has appeared in Talking River, Nerve Cowboy, Cleaver, Packingtown Review, Adaptation, and The San Francisco Examiner. Additionally, David is head writer of The Minor Prophets, a three-man comedy troupe with over 30 award-winning short films to its credit. A TEDx speaker and author of the novel, Rug Man, he lives in that swath of suburban Philadelphia known as Delco.

The Athenaeum of Philadelphia Literary Award -- April 15, 2024
For his novel, Rug Man, David has received the Athenaeum of Philadelphia Literary Award in Fiction. Dating back to 1949, the award honors the most outstanding literary work by a Philadelphia-area author or a work that is about Philadelphia.

As part of his ongoing research into sneaker culture, David presented a paper entitled, “Getting Out in Transition: Basketball, Hip-Hop, and the Offensive Mobility of Indigenized Sneakers.”

DeSales University -- January 5, 2024
David will be visiting DeSales University in Lehigh County to read from his work-in-progress, a novel-in-stories entitled The Offliner. The university’s low-res MFA program is run by David’s long-time friend and fellow BGSU alumnus, Patrick Crerand.

David heads to St. Lous, MO for the first-ever Livin’ Analog Day Retreat, where he’ll deliver a talk entitled, “Against Multi-tasking: An Argument for Doing One Thing at a Time,” which builds on Shunryu Suzuki’s principle of “one-act concentration.”
