The good people at Pool Magazine interviewed The Minor Prophets about their upcoming short film, The Current State of the Backyard Pool Industry.

Dave read from his forthcoming story collection, The Church of the Dead Brother’s Seed. While in New Orleans (the most Caribbean of northern cities), he met the man behind the Jewrotica sex toy line, and a musician from Newark, NJ named Mr. Chicken.

Along with his friend Patrick Crerand, Dave presented on the phenomenon of fan fiction. Afterward, he and Patrick ate Vietnamese food at Cafe Anh Hong, where the Bun is divine.

Peter Reinhart, host of the Pizza Quest podcast and "one of the most respected baking educators in America," interviewed Dave about his father, Jerry, the inspiration behind Rug Man’s protagonist, Frank Renzetti.

For the Athenaeum of Philadelphia’s speaker series, Dave lectured on the changing identity of Delaware County, the setting of Rug Man.

Viaticum, the latest short film from The Minor Prophets, is now available to watch on Vimeo. In the dark comedy, directed by Upper Darby native and West Chester University alum Derek Frey, Dave plays an amateur saucier whose ailing father is about to meet his maker.

For his novel, Rug Man, David has received the Athenaeum of Philadelphia Literary Award in Fiction. Dating back to 1949, the award honors the most outstanding literary work by a Philadelphia-area author or a work that is about Philadelphia.

As part of his ongoing research into sneaker culture, David presented a paper entitled, “Getting Out in Transition: Basketball, Hip-Hop, and the Offensive Mobility of Indigenized Sneakers.”

David will be visiting DeSales University in Lehigh County to read from his work-in-progress, a novel-in-stories entitled The Offliner. The university’s low-res MFA program is run by David’s long-time friend and fellow BGSU alumnus, Patrick Crerand.

David heads to St. Lous, MO for the first-ever Livin’ Analog Day Retreat, where he’ll deliver a talk entitled, “Against Multi-tasking: An Argument for Doing One Thing at a Time,” which builds on Shunryu Suzuki’s principle of “one-act concentration.”

Curtis Smith at JMWW conducted an extensive interview with David, in which he discusses Rug Man, the elusive essence of Delaware County, and his current writing projects.

David will be attending the Popular Culture Association Conference in San Antonio, TX, where he’ll read from his novel, Rug Man. This marks David’s fourth trip to the national conference. His previous three presentations centered on sneaker culture, David Lynch’s Dune, and the myth of Superman.
